Literacy Loot to Wear:

library stamp tshirt

Isn’t this t-shirt cool? I am a little biased, since my anniversary is March 23rd, but what a cool concept! $28 from outofprintclothing.com

library due date tshirt

This cute t-shirt is from ShopJustWish on Etsy and is $19.95. There are a lot of variations and color choices of this tee and the site also lists some shoes and other clothing items (notebook paper onesies, anyone?) that are worth a look!

Literacy Loot For School:

teacher stamp

I love classroom library stamps and think this one is perfect. Listed at $31.50 from YellowFishPaperie on Etsy.

PageMarkers10057638_2_x

These page markers come from The Container Store and are $7.99. I love the packaging and think this would be a fun teacher gift to start or end the school year.

Literacy Loot for Home:

harper lee print

The Etsy shop Bright Designscle features 40 really cool literary art prints that you need to check out! They are $18 each and so gorgeous. There are quotes from several authors, including John Green, Cassandra Clare, Stephen Chbosky and J.D. Salinger.

book crane mobile

This upcycled origami crane mobile made of vintage children book pages is simple, functional and pretty affordable at $29. You can find it at Spare Bedroom Studio on Etsy.

See you next Friday with more literacy loot! Happy shopping!

(Disclaimer – These items were found via Pinterest, Etsy or through internet searches. I am not being compensated by companies for posting these items… even though that would be pretty cool.)

A little bit of everything… A Literacy Loot Smorgasbord!

This week’s post features a little bit of everything. I’ve been pinning away and favoriting on Etsy, so here’s this week’s literacy loot smorgasbord!

ABC bookend

Another cool bookend – this time from graphicspaceswood on Etsy. This wooden alphabet piece is $55 and the wall hanging alphabet linked n the description would make a great companion piece in a nursery.

real men tshirt

I’m loving this $25.00 t-shirt from Skreened. I’m sure there are many husbands out there that would agree that being married to a teacher is one wild ride!

phone cover

This $18 Penguin Books phone cover from gleeksheeksleek is pretty hilarious. This site has a lot of stuff for geeks worth checking out, like cool Harry Potter signs, a Wicked phone cover and more.

read bracelet

ALikelyStory is an Etsy store that caters to all literacy lovers! This bracelet, which uses replicas of old fashion typewriter keys is listed at $27.95, and would be a great gift for bibliophiles. The Bookish Charm Bracelet is worth checking out too!

My favorite item of the week…

fictional button

The carboncrusader store on Etsy has some really cool items, and I love this $2 button. What a fun and inexpensive gift for coworkers. I know a few students that would love to get their hands on this too!

Happy reading and shopping!

I like the idea of having professional business cards to hand out at conferences and other events. I would definitely add my twitter handle too. These adorable teacher business cards from Studio Forty , Old Dirt Hill and Mallory Hope Design are bright and beautiful. $30 for 50 cards (top left), $44 for 100 (top right) and $32.50 for 50 (bottom).

Luxury Item of the week:

This shelf tree wall decal sticker from Smiley Walls would look great in a classroom, child’s room or nursery.  You can add 4 shelves to the decal and have a sharp looking bookshelf. It’s price of $89 is a little luxurious, but I really like the idea of it, so I thought I would share this cool design idea.

Hello, literacy lovers! August is flying by, and  I’m featuring even more treasure for all you savvy teachers with classrooms to fill with cool literacy loot. This week’s items are sure to make your classroom even more functional and fun!

library stamp

Last week’s featured personalized library stamp was very popular (check it out here: Back to School Teacher Treasures Week 1 ), so I have decided to feature one each week during the month of August. Listed at $24.95, this simple, self inking stamp is the perfect addition to any teacher’s classroom library. You can even choose your ink color – black, blue, red, green, or brown.
The Stampin’ Place
 features multiple library stamp options.

writebanner

readbanner

Can we just take a moment and look at these adorable classroom banners?! Wouldn’t they look great above a center or in a cozy reading or writing corner? Love them! They are listed at $17 and $15, and Gifts By Gaby has several more banners, like a personalized pencil teacher door sign, that you will probably want to check out.

grasshopper

This stapler from Anthropologie is one cool office supply. Your fellow teachers are sure to have desk envy when they see this little guy, and you definitely won’t have trouble getting a volunteer to staple packets either.  For $18, this stapler can be prominently displayed on your desk or even in a writing center.

This week’s luxury item…

modclothplateset

I can always count on Modcloth for having something quirky and fun for the home. They featured their Gourmet Grammarian Dish Set for $49.99 on Facebook yesterday, and this cool and functional conversation starting dinnerware is sure to impress your dinner guests.

Next week there will be even more Teacher Treasures featured, but in the meantime, if you’d like to see some older Literacy Loot posts from this summer, please check out these links:

Listed at $32, this cute personalized, self inking stamp is the perfect addition to any teacher’s classroom library. In total, there are 17 teacher stamp options from this Etsy store. I am also a big fan of the stamps that say “From the Library of” for lending personal books to friends, colleagues and relatives. This is one worth checking out!

In the market for a really cool iPad cover? This composition notebook cover from cartelco on Etsy.com should do the trick. It is listed for $60, and from the description sounds pretty durable and functional. Click on the picture for more info!

Hello, literacy lovers! I’m back from our family road trip and the realization of just how many weeks there are before you know what starts is setting in. Meanwhile, I’ve been avoiding my to do lists and looking around for some literacy loot to share. I think I’ve found this week’s winners.

These adorable little “I Love Books” buttons are from PemberleyPond on Etsy.com. Listed at $3.41 for one button. Larger quantities available. Click on the picture to visit this cute little literacy minded shop!

These simple little buttons are too cute not to be shared. While they might be a little pricey, PemberleyPond is an Etsy store not to be missed. They have bookmarks, cards, and VERY COOL literacy prints. Especially if you are a Jane Austen fan!

Spend some time on Society 6’s website and you’ll definitely find something that catches your eye. This shirt is listed for $18.99, and you can also get this printed on a tote bag, card, iPhone case, canvas print, etc.

So this shirt pretty much sums up my summer, and I’ll bet I’m not alone!  I like Society 6’s website because when you find something you like, you can printed on a variety of items. They also have a ton of  t-shirt colors to choose from. The search feature is pretty dangerous.

Introducing… Literacy Loot!

literacy loot memeLiteracy Loot is a weekly post that features cool and unique literacy items found online and in stores for the classroom, home and even to wear! Join me in sharing your find of the week!

So I had an idea…

A reader’s love doesn’t just stop at books, right? We love to surround ourselves with evidence that reading is cool and shout from the tallest (ahem) bookshelf, that “WE LOVE READING!” and we’re not afraid who knows it. If you’re like me and pin, bookmark and save reading related items when browsing the internet or when shopping near and far, this post is for you. I plan to highlight 1 or 2 items a week – perhaps a literacy “steal” that is priced under $20 or a literacy “luxury” item that we can all drool over and maybe drop not-so-subtle hints about to our loved ones. Sometimes I’ll even include one of each! I hope you’ll join me in sharing some items that you’ve found along your reading journey and brought into your own classroom, reading sanctuary and life.

Literacy Loot “Steal” of the Week –

from My Knapsack Dreams on etsy.com

These little paperclips pack a bright and colorful punch! Aren’t they gorgeous? While advertised as wedding favors, I think they would look lovely in a book or two! The colorful cuties are 6 for $4.00. I think they are perfect for book club exchanges and end of the year school gifts. I know they would brighten my day! Click on the picture to check out this literacy loot!

Literacy “Luxury” Item of the Week

This personalized wooden gear bookend would make a great addition to any bookshelf. It is unique, classy and fully functional! This piece would be a lovely housewarming gift for a family of readers. Each wooden bookend is $55 and this shop has several more choices at different prices worth looking at – I especially like the owl and tree branch options. Click on the picture to check out this luxurious literacy loot!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s loot, and don’t forget that if you know of or find any literacy loot you think readers would enjoy, drop me a line in the comments section below. Otherwise, feel free to start your own literacy loot posts when you come across must have items for the reader in all of us! Have a great weekend!
